First Try Friday: Brett Rheeder. Rupert linked up with the Kelowna connection, Harrison Mendel, and hit Brett with a First Try Friday while they were filming for his latest Bontrager edit. Pretty gnarly for Brett’s fourth run of the day with no warm up. Rup was swaggin on em with the coffee mug, same with Brett and his full buttoned up flannel, wish I could say the same about Harry and his pink hoodie. YEAH RIGHT

Swatch Rocket Air Replay (link out to Red Bull) Just posting in case ya missed it elsewhere. A few notes: Cute snaggletoothed girl seemed contractually obligated to rest her arm on every sweaty rider post-run. Shitty job for sure. Slopestyle contests actually need slopes. This might be the least fun looking course I’ve ever seen. Pilgrim’s 540 up the stepup was super clean. Really bummed that no MTBer can ride rocket at the Swatch Rocket Air.

The Rheeder Project: Ep 3 - Mechanical Eye Media. Kinda bummed this is the last of their little series but this is a great ender. Dudes got heart, no doubting that. Can’t wait for what he has in store over the winter. Whatever it is, it’s going to be not bad. Such sick 3 at 5:41.

I’m always a sucker for commentary over riding shots, especially when it’s the rider explaining there runs or their thoughts on how they were feeling. Much like the last one I enjoyed it. A lot of good insight on whats going through Brett’s head during his runs. “I totally didn’t know what to do….. and Brandon showed me.” I think theres more to that quote than just Brandon teaching Brett to pop bottles. If Brett rode goofy, he’d be a clone of B.

“If theres something he likes in someones riding, you can tell he picks it up..” 

The Rheeder Project: Episode 1

I really enjoyed this. Being at both UDUG and Jumpship riding with Brett really gave me an inside scoop on what he talks about. The part about him proving himself at Jumpship was spot on. I knew Brett was on some shit at UDUG and after he took that slam on the switch whip I was kinda just like, ‘fuck dude I just want him to do well.’ I could tell how motivated he was prior to the contest and knew how hard he had worked in the ‘off season’. I couldn’t wait for him to put a run together and get what he deserved. Plus homie barspun a fire in the pitch black. (Listen for Ross’s stoke levels on his Iphone photo) Jumpship was one of the shadier courses ever but he made that stepup to berm to dish thing look like butter and held it down in all three runs. This video also didn’t show Brett being the first one on the barge digging in the rain like, ‘yo like if we all just clear this out and run ply wood we could be riding in a couple hours’. Rumor has it he drinks Redbull and milk three times a day to stay on top of his game.
